Move Your Body is the second single from Echo in the Dark, a collaborative album by Hanna Tuulikki and Tommy Perman composed entirely from bat echolocation calls fused with the human voice. Released 3 July 2026 on Glasgow independent label KIN-TU.
Inspired by the melodic, bubbly warbles of the Greater horseshoe bat as heard through a heterodyne bat detector, Move Your Body transforms this bat’s distinctive echolocation into a minimal sampladelic groove. Built from bat-derived beats and melodic fragments, processed harmonies and warm, sensual vocals, the track sits between club rhythm and dreamy electronic pop. Playful, tactile and gently euphoric, it nods to the innovative dance pioneers of the late 80s and 90s.
“A philosopher duetting with bats on a dance track? That’s seriously deep house.”
– Hettie Judah, The Guardian
B-side Moving Without Travelling samples the Barbastelle bat, transforming its calls into distorted, pulsating beats that draw together the heavy intensity of Berlin techno and the warmth of French house. Manipulated spoken-word fragments from philosopher Timothy Morton weave through the track, connecting embodied experience, ecological thought and the energy of the dancefloor.
